       Sambong is medicinal plant that grows wild in the Philippines. Doctors in the Philippines prescribe Sambong for the dissolution of kidney stones. Sambong is also known as a diuretic, and is used in cases of hypertension and congestive heart failure.

          Sambong is one of 10 herbs that have been approved by the Department of Health in the Philippines as being effective in treating certain disorders. There are Sambong products on the market now in the Philippines that have been approved by the Bureau of Food and Drugs and are routinely prescribed by doctors.

                    SambongAs a diuretic in hypertension and fluid retention. Also used for dissolution of kidney stones. Some clinical studies, including double blind/placebo radomized studies, have shown encouraging results for Sambong to be both safe and effective in the treatment of kidney stones and hypertension. The National Kidney and Transplant Institute has promoted the use of this herbal medicine for many renal patients to avert or delay the need for dialysis or organ transplantation.


           This plant has been promoted by the Department of Health (DOH) as a diuretic and for dissolution of renal stones. One of the medicinal herbs recently registered with the Bureau of Foods and Drugs as medicines.
